A new dimension has been added in the E-commerce sector of Bangladesh by introducing ‘Digital commerce booth’ in all the post offices of the country.
This specialized booth equipped with an automated tracking system will provide quick delivery of a range of products. Apart from quick delivery, digital commerce entrepreneurs will get post-delivery electronic money transfer service (EMTS), warehouse, consumer information services and so on.
An agreement has been signed on Tuesday at GPO, Dhaka between e-CAB and the Postal Department at the virtual presence of Mustafa Jabbar, Post and Telecommunication minister. e-CAB Vice president Shahab Uddin Shipon and DAK Director Harunur Rashid for the postal department signed the agreement.
Mustafa Jabbar said that, utilising the capabilities of the postal department, the ongoing advancement of e-commerce can be exhilarated to a great extent, as no other department has as many human resources and network as the postal department has. The services they rendered in the ongoing corona pandemic, is really commendable, he added.
Md. Siraj Uddin, DG of the postal department opines that these services will help increase the extension of digital commerce in a quicker and transparent manner even in remote areas of the country.
e- CAB Vice-president Shahab Uddin Shipon said that, after the successful completion of a pilot project of delivering products at different corners of the country from Dhaka through 750 post offices, we just signed the agreement in a wider perspective. To bring the full service under an app, e-CAB has developed a software and integrated it with the software of postal department which will make a bridge between digital commerce entrepreneures and the customers.
As per the agreement, a particular booth will be installed in each and every post office to receive products which will be linked by high speed internet, necessary software, mobile application to ensure quick delivery services.
Sayeed Rahman, Director, e-CAB, Jahangir Alam Shovon, GM, e-CAB, Shaon Saha Joy, e-post Opeeration Manager and officials from postal department were present in the signing ceremony while the programme was moderated by Asif Ahnaf, Director, e- CAB.
