In the second quarter, TikTok removed 68 lakh 39 thousand 134 videos from Bangladesh
TikTok, a popular short video platform, removed 68 lakh 39 thousand 134 videos uploaded from Bangladesh in the second quarter of 2023 (April-June 2023) due to violation of community guidelines. Of the removed videos, total 89.8 percent were removed before anyone watched those. Meanwhile about 94.7 percent of the videos were removed within a day.
Earlier, in the first quarter of the year (January-March 2023), 42 lakh 36 thousand 493 videos were removed by TikTok. Of the videos that were removed, 92.2 percent were removed before anyone saw them. And within a day, about 95.3 percent of the videos were removed. With that, 99.5 percent of videos were actively removed in this quarter.
The videos were removed as part of a commitment to building trust through accountability, making the platform safe for the community and maintaining a conducive environment. In the fourth quarter of 2022, 42 lakh 54 thousand 667 videos were removed for the same reason.
Statistics show that video removals have increased by 2.2 million in marginal disruptions. However, the percentage of videos removed before being viewed has decreased. Due to the strong discipline, according to the community guidelines, more quality videos are being uploaded on TikTok now than before.
According to TikTok’s Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, the preventive video removal rate this quarter was 99.4 percent. In addition, TikTok has removed accounts of under 13 platform users suspected of being users and for the safety of young people. 1 crore 88 lakh 23 thousand 40 such accounts have been removed worldwide.
As mentioned in the report, TikTok has removed a total of 10 crore 64 lakh 76 thousand 32 videos from its platform around the world. Which is about 0.7 percent of all videos uploaded on the platform. Out of this, 6 crore 64 lakh 40 thousand 775 videos were automatically removed. On the other hand, 67 lakh 50 thousand 2 videos were verified and put back on the platform. And in the first quarter, 9 crore 10 lakh 3 thousand 510 videos were removed by TikTok. At that time, this figure was about 0.6 percent of videos uploaded on TikTok. Of these videos, 5 crore 34 lakh 94 thousand 911 videos were removed through the automated system.
In addition to upholding community guidelines, these initiatives proactively analyze spam accounts and related content. The report highlighted TikTok’s stance on preventing the spread of misinformation and maintaining online safety.
