Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that with the help of modern technology, a safe grid and security of the grid should be ensured. The uncertainty created in the global context, it is difficult to deal with in traditional ways. Planning should be made according to the forecast in coordination with modern systems and technology. A sustainable system cannot be developed without making smart, quick decisions with a positive attitude.
The state minister expressed his insight while addressing as the Chief Guest at a workshop titled Smart Grid Experience Day as part of the implementation of a study on ‘Smart Grid Roadmap in Bangladesh Phase 2’ by The Boston Consultant Group (BCG) funded by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) at Bidyut Bhaban on Tuesday (October 17).
He said that the overall system of electricity and fuel must be modernized and integrated to face the benefits and challenges of the 21st century. And the smart grid will be the backbone of all systems. Smart Grid will contribute significantly to the reliability, efficiency, security and sustainable and real-time power flow of the power system. Electricity is generated from various sources. It also requires a smart grid to synchronize properly.
General Electric (GE), Microsoft, IBM and Oracle – these four organizations presented ‘Art of the Possible for a Smart Grid Innovation Dem Lab’ separately.
The secretary of the electricity department Md. Habibur Rahman, Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain, USTDA Senior Regional Representative South Asia Mehnaz Ansari, Managing Director and BCG Senior Partner Zarif Monir spoke among others in the event.
