Under the initiative of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Alumni Association, a total of 105 financially disadvantaged but talented students studying in various faculties were given “Merit Award and Scholarship-2023”.
These merit awards were presented on Sunday with the donation of CUET Alumni Association Canada- CUET Trust Fund; former students of CUET, valiant freedom fighter Engineer Md. Kabir Ahmed Bhuya and first batch student of CUET, Engineer Mahmuduzzaman Khan.
Apart from this, under the initiative of CUET Alumni Association, scholarships are given to students of different levels among 52 students with the highest CGPA.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, the CUET Vice Chancellor and a student of 8th batch inaugurated the ceremony in the morning.
President of CUET Alumni Association Engineer Khan Ataur Rahman Santu presided over the event while the B&T Group Chairman Engineer Moklesur Rahman; former president of CUET Alumni Association Engineer Md. Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, and CUET Student Welfare Director Eng. Md. Rezaul Karim were present as special guests.
CUET Alumni Association General Secretary Engineer Major Md. Feroz Khan Nun Farazi (retd), CUET Canada Alumni Association President Eng. Md. Habibur Rahman, CUET Australia Alumni Association President Eng. Abdullah Al Mamun and Engineer Md. Hafizur Rahman, 3rd batch student of CUET delivered their welcome speeches.
Associate Professor of EEE Department Dr. Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury and MIE department lecturer Tasmia Binte High conducted the programme. Tanjim Ahmed Reza of 19 batch ETE department and Saima Sultana Chaiti of EEE department spoke on behalf of the students. “Merit Award and Scholarship” program was moderated by Professor of EEE Department Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain.
While speaking as the chief guest, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Alumni are one of the partners and controllers of the progress of the university. Such initiatives are promising to increase networking of current students with alumni. More than 12,500 students have graduated from CUET in 55 years. All are contributing efficiently at home and abroad. Knowledge-based and research activities of teachers and students are going on here. Our recent success in the US-based QS ranking is a testament to our progress. I invite you to continue the cooperation of the Alumni Association in the future in the overall progress of CUET.”
