Social media platform TikTok has launched a campaign to raise awareness about mental health. The campaign, which runs throughout the month of October to mark World Mental Health Day, features stories from experts, creators and advocates on the platform.
As part of this, TikTok has worked with creators and organizations in Bangladesh. TikTok’s Wellness Hub page provides many videos and playlists to engage platform users with topics of mental wellness or well-being.
Many other creators from the country like Zubair, Nanjiba and Saif Sarwar participated in the campaign. Celebrities, leading personalities and organizations like BRAC and UNICEF South Asia have contributed.
Creator Nanjiba (@didusefood) said, “TikTok’s initiative to raise awareness about mental health is commendable. This platform is a great opportunity for many like me to share my experiences.”
Famous actress Shabnam Faria said, “Discussion about mental health is very important. TikTok has become a platform that contributes to empathy and awareness.”
BRAC said, “We welcome TikTok’s initiative to promote mental health awareness. Campaigns like this are important to raise mental health awareness.”
Creator Zubair (@halkanasta) said, “TikTok’s mental health initiative is very encouraging. I hope this initiative will continue.”
Bangladeshi users are encouraged to share their inspiring stories and wellness experiences using the local hashtags #mentalhealth and #selfcare.
TikTok supports mental health awareness on its platform and beyond.
Meanwhile, as part of expressing solidarity with the theme of the UN-declared day, TikTok donated 250,000 dollars to the Rare Impact Fund. Selena Gomez, who works on mental health and self-awareness, has partnered to implement the initiative.
