A seminar was held at the National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST calling for economical and efficient use of water. The speakers in the seminar emphasized making the water supply management of Dhaka WASA pollution-free and citizen-friendly. A seminar on “Ethical and Scientific Use of Water Resources” was organized for a team of senior military and civil officers participating in the 109th Senior Staff Course of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center at Savar on Tuesday (October 10, 2023) when they visited the National Museum of Science and Technology. 3 military and 17 civilian senior officials (Joint Secretary Rank) participated in the seminar.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology, commented in the seminar, saying “Citizens are not ethical in using water, so a huge amount of water is wasted in cleaning buildings and washing cars. WASA’s water management will be under threat if the law is not strictly enforced to prevent wastage of billions of liters of water pumped at huge cost.”
He also said, “50-80 liters of water is wasted daily in a household using a commode flush. New technologies need to be developed to modernize and water-efficient toilet flush management.”
Mr. Mohammad Badrul Alam, executive engineer of Dhaka WASA, presented the main article in this seminar. He presented the overall picture of Dhaka WASA water supply system and ongoing projects.
Naila Ahmed, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Public Works and Khorshed Alam, Joint Head (Joint Secretary) of Planning Department also spoke in the seminar. At the end of the seminar, the participating senior officers visited the exhibits of the National Museum of Science and Technology and enjoyed the quadrature.
