Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni advised the youth to be smart by solving their own problems being motivated by patriotism. He said, you will conquer the space one day. It will tell that Bangladesh is not behind anywhere. Not among those who hold back. We will be victorious for the fourth time.
The minister expressed such optimism at the closing ceremony of the Bangladesh phase of the NASA Space Apps Challenge for the 9th time on Saturday night.
She said that, we have to think whether we want 100 bombs or 100 road openings in one day. We will always be with science and technology.WeI will not be left behind. At the same time, as a young person, one should be intelligent, humane, non-communal, compassionate and smart by solving one’s own problems. BASIS will play a great role in building a smart Bangladesh in that regard.
While speaking as a special guest, IUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Tanveer Hasan said, “When I was in the USA, two things impressed me. Then I thought, there will be no highway in our country. Seeing NASA also felt the same about the dream of going to space. But now I’m optimistic.
In a video message, NASA Astronaut Joseph Michael Akaba said that Bangladesh has won 3 out of the last 5 challenges. This time they will do well. We will all conquer space together.
James Gardiner, the economics, science and technology officer at the US Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, said, I visited the hackathon, it was really amazing. You have conquered the world thrice, it is no less. As a developing country, Bangladesh is volunteering for space exploration. We continue to use and practice science to create a more livable environment for humans.
While speaking as the President of the event, the Basis President Russell T Ahmed said that BASIS US Desk will be launched soon . He said, Bangladesh won the World Cup match today. I hand over this victorious flag to you now. Hope, this time you will conquer the world in multiple categories. I think that, the more you are hungry, the more you can give to the country. You will carry the flag of Smart Bangladesh 2041.
While delivering his welcome speech,NASA Space Apps Challenge Adviser Ariful Hasan Apu demanded scholarships for world champions in the NASA Space Apps Challenge of Bangladesh engaged in space research.
The BASIS Secretary Hashim Ahmed moderated the closing ceremony and the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2023 convener and BASIS Director Tanveer Hossain Khan thanked everyone for the entire arrangement.
It is worth noting that, 210 participants from Bangladesh participated in the 36-hour NASA Space Apps Challenge with 24,000 competitors from 185 countries around the world. Out of 1500 participants from across the country, 50 teams of 5 members each from 9 divisional cities participated in the non-stop 36-hour hackathon at AIUB from Friday morning. Another 150 people were connected online. They were accompanied by 50 mentors, 25 judges and 50 volunteers.
