According to Telenor Asia’s research Digital Lives Decoded, mobile connectivity is a key to realizing Bangladesh’s full potential. These comments were made at an event titled ‘Building Better Digital Lives for a Smart Bangladesh’ by Telenor Asia, a major investor in mobile phone operator Grameenphone. The event was organized at Sheraton Hotel in the capital on Tuesday (September 19).
The ICT Division Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin delivered his opening speech as the Chief Guest at the event.
The panel discussion was moderated by Manisha Dogra, Senior Vice President and Head of External Relations, Telenor Asia. At this time, the report titled ‘Asia’s Digital Lives Decoded’ was presented through the presentation. This report presents evidence from a survey of more than 8,000 people in 8 Asian countries about the effectiveness of mobile connectivity in social transformation, increasing productivity and developing new possibilities.
In the closing speech, the special guest of the program, the Director General of Engineering and Operations Department of BTRC, Brigadier General Md. Ehsanul Kabir said, ‘Mobile connection is one of the basic tools to build a smart Bangladesh. So we need more effective joint efforts to find various solutions in this regard. We need to simultaneously ensure a future-oriented and sustainable telecom infrastructure to facilitate Bangladesh’s digital transformation by establishing universal and meaningful interconnection.’
Chief Business Officer of Grameenphone Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid said, ‘Grameenphone has always stood by the immense potential of connectivity in the journey of socio-economic progress and facing various challenges in the daily life of the people of the country.’
The three chapters of the Telenor Asia ‘Digital Lives Decoded’ report examine the data of more than 8,000 people from 8 Asian countries (Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam). This publication mainly aims to analyze the attitudes and behavior of the participants in the context of mobile connectivity. To explore how it is affecting people’s lifestyles, occupations and recreation in the Asia region. Participants were divided into different categories based on gender and age.
