As evidence of involvement with the recruitment trade was found, the Deputy Director (Public Relations) of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Md. Hayatuzzaman’s next five years ‘promotion’ and three annual ‘increments’ has been suspended. A decision has also been taken to dismiss Faisal Kabir from service.
This decision was taken at the 94th meeting of the Board of Regents, the highest policy-making forum of JUST, on Saturday. Earlier, the Grievance Committee submitted its report to the Board of Regents. Later, all these decisions were taken after finding the truth of the incident according to the prevailing law and discipline rules of the university. At the beginning of the meeting, a condolence proposal was accepted on the death of Kazi Shahed Ahmed, the respected father of Jessore-3 Constituency Member of National Parliament and member of the Board of Regents of JUST, Kazi Nabil Ahmed. At the same time, a minute of silence was observed and prayers were offered for thesalvation of his soul. Many members attended the Board of Regents meetings virtually and in person.
As informed at the meeting of the Board of Regents, according to the recommendation of the investigation board formed regarding the allegations of involvement in the recruitment trade, the Deputy Director of the Public Relations Branch of the Registrar’s Office of the University, it was decided to suspend all ‘promotions’ and three annual ‘increments’ of Hayatuzzaman for the next five years. It was reported in the board meeting that the senior telephone operator was also accused of being involved in the recruitment trade. Faisal Kabir was already suspended from service. Later, the inquiry committee formed in this regard recommended him to be punished. As the allegations of recruitment trade brought against him proved beyond reasonable doubt, it was decided to suspend Faisal Kabir as per the disciplinary rules of the University as per the recommendation of the committee. It was informed in the Board of Regents meeting that Nurul Sadiq Sajib, a student of the 2019-20 academic year of the PTR Department of JUST, was caught by the law-and-order forces while giving proxy for the HSC English second paper examination at Mridhapara College Center of Bangladesh Open University (BAUBI) Chougachha. Later he was sent to jail. According to the Rules of Discipline for Students, the Board of Regents meeting decided to expel him permanently from the University on the recommendation of the 11th meeting of the Disciplinary Committee of the University.
