A mobile science exhibition was held at Dr. Khastagir Government Girls’ High School in Chattogram port city. Organized by the National Museum of Science and Technology, the curiosity of the students was surrounded by two modern technology-rich museum buses and movie buses brought from Dhaka. Winners of the quiz and science speech competition held at one stage of the program on Thursday and were awarded mementoes by the science museum.
Mohammad Munir Chowdhury, Director General of the museum, urged the students to pay close attention to their studies and practice science, and strongly urged them to build a life rich in moral values. While giving a speech to the teachers and students at the meeting, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “Mobile addiction has become a curse for the young generation. Many students have lost focus in their studies due to constant immersion in their mobiles, some have suffered from exam results. Even sight loss is causing irreparable physical and mental damage. Parents must ensure strict discipline to curb this destructive trend. Children should be protected from mobile addiction with love, care and discipline. Special motivational programs should be organized in schools. In this regard, teachers also have to play a responsible role.
Apart from this, the interest in restaurant food is increasing among the youth, he said, due to the neglect of parents, children are becoming addicted to fast food and junk food. The young generation is becoming physically and mentally weak due to restaurant food made with unhealthy ingredients. Mothers should pay more attention to cooking at home. Vegetables and small fish should be cooked delicately and be presented to the children.
He also said that sports and physical exercise are gradually disappearing. For the students, in the school ground or if there is no field; on the rooftop for a while under the open sky, a joyful atmosphere and entertainment should be organized. Care must be taken that over-mechanization and over-dependence on technology does not hamper the physical and mental development of the youth. Family ties should be strong at home to keep children happy. The liberal mentality that children develop in joint families is sinking into the narrowness of selfishness in single families. Family and social ties are breaking away due to mobile and television addiction. Diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases are spreading due to very comfortable living. Children should be exposed to the natural environment. On holidays or at least once a month, one should take to the village environment and bond with green grass, ponds and trees. Man is not a single entity. Man is the best creature created by God. At the end of this worldly life, everyone must return to Almighty Allah and give an account of their sins and virtues. The purpose of human life is to attain the satisfaction of the great Lord by keeping the life free from sin and following the righteous life.”
