Toyota started work on 25 production lines at 12 plants in its car market on Wednesday morning and the remaining two plants resumed production in the afternoon.
The 14 plants account for a third of Toyota’s total global production, according to Reuters’ calculations. Toyota is the world’s largest car manufacturer in terms of sales.
Car production in Japan rose 29 percent in the first half of this year, the first increase in two years. In Japan, excluding Daihatsu and Hino, Toyota produced an average of 13,500 vehicles per day.
