The Huawei Hongmeng kernel has achieved the industry’s first Evaluation Assurance Level 6 Augmented (EAL6+) certification. The award is given in the Information Technology Security Evaluation (CC) general category. This is the first time any smart device manufacturer has been given this recognition.
The OS kernel acts as the backbone of any operating system’s security and safety. CC, also known as the ISO/IEC 15408 standard, is an information security certification that is one of the most respected accreditations in the IT industry globally. CC is a globally widely used criterion for evaluating product safety.
SGS BrightSite, a reputed security evaluation lab conducts security evaluation tests for Huawei’s Hongmeng kernel. CC EAL6+ accreditation is a testament to Huawei’s industry-leading cybersecurity capabilities. To date, Huawei has achieved over 500 industry-specific cybersecurity certifications, including CC, FIPS, ISO 19790, PCI DSS and CSA STAR.
Huawei prioritizes cyber security and safety above all business interests. Huawei has been consistently working to ensure cyber security and its efforts and initiatives have been recognized in more than 170 countries around the world. Gong Ti, President of Huawei’s consumer BG software engineering department, said, “HongMeng Kernel’s security capabilities are now recognized by internationally recognized certification bodies.
