Bangladesh Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed has called on Shri Darshan Hiranandani, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Hiranandani Group, known as India’s fourth richest man and ethical business tycoon, to invest in Bangladesh in addition to setting up data centers, security of data and above all cyber security and regional dominance in IT services. He made this call in a meeting held at the head office of Hiranandani Group located in Olympia, Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon on the first day of his visit to India.
In the meeting, the state minister discussed increasing regional dominance in social media, AR/VR solutions, entertainment, gaming and e-sports technology industries in consumer services. Sunil Gupta, Co-Founder of Hiranandani Group and Co-Founder of Yota Data Services Pvt. Ltd has taken this interest of the State Minister seriously.
Bhavesh Adhia, Head Sales & Business Development & Governance, Hiranandi Group, Piyush Gupta, Head (International) Hyperscale & Government and Rohan Seth, Head Colocation, Yota Data Services Pvt. Ltd were present in the meeting. On the other hand, private secretary Md. Mushfiqur Rahman is with the state minister.
The Minister of State for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak informed about the positive outcome of the meeting and said that joint partnership through Hiranandani Group and Hitech Park Authority will strengthen Indo-Bangladesh partnership to increase digital inclusion and achieve Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041.
Palak also said that earlier, India’s Hiranandani Group had announced an investment of Tk. 2000 crore to set up a tier four data center in Bangladesh. The construction of two hyper scale data center buildings at Kaliakor Hitech Park has already started for the company’s IOTA data services. This data center has 4800 racks and a power capacity of 28.8 MW. It was informed in Wednesday’s meeting that this data center will be inaugurated in the third quarter of 2024 as the construction work is in full swing.
“This state-of-the-art data center will meet the growing demand for data storage in Bangladesh as well as the needs of private sector organizations in the Northeast Indian region,” added the State Minister for ICT.
It is reported that the second meeting of the ICT State Minister of Bangladesh’s 8-day visit to India will be held on Thursday afternoon at the headquarters of the National Payments Corporation of India and the Reserve Bank of India. After the meeting he will visit Bangalore University in the evening.
