“The BNP-Jamaat leadership has drawn a picture of sabotage around the painful month of Bengalis,” said Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud.
While speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by the Directorate of Films and Publications (DFP) on the occasion of National Mourning Day at Information Bhaban in Kakrail in the capital on the afternoon of August 15.
He said, ‘Yesterday, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi died naturally. Since last night, there has been an attempt to create chaos around it. This is part of BNP-Jamaat’s plan of sabotage and mayhem across the country throughout the month of August.’
Hasan Mahmud said, “Bangabandhu was killed on August 15, and a grenade attack was conducted to kill Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina on August 21. On August 17, five hundred places were bombed across the country. Out of 64 districts, bombs have been dropped in 63 districts.
Describing the month of August as the painful month of Bengali life, the Information Minister said that the greatest Bengali, father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed in this month of August. In this month of August, poet Rabindranath Tagore passed away, poet of rivalry, national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam passed away. Khudiram Bose wa alsos hanged on the in August.
He said, when this month of the pain of Bengali life comes, anti-Bengali, anti art and culture, anti-national forces are active. For that we all need to be careful. We need to move our country forward. And to move the country forward, everyone has to work together.
Director General of DFP. M. Golam Kibria chaired the program while the Director General of Bangladesh Television Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam and Chief Information Officer Md. Shahenur Mia addressed the meeting.
