For the first time on August 9, the ‘1st National Research Fair’ is going to be held at Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology-CUET campus. Around 350 teachers, researchers and students from 40 universities of the country will present 124 research papers in the day-long fair. 91 posters and 33 projects will be showcased in the fair.
The Member Secretary of the organizing committee and the professor of Civil Engineering Dr. GM Sadiqul Islam conveyed this information at the press conference held on Monday in the Academic Council Room of the Administrative Building of CUET under the initiative of the Directorate of Research and Extension. Various questions were answered by the chairman of the organizing committee of the research fair and the director of the research and extension Directorate Dr. Sajal Chandra Banik.
At that time, among the members of the organizing committee, the professor of Chemistry department Dr. Mosammat Roksana Khatun; Professor of Physics Department Dr. Swapan Kumar Roy; Professor of Mechanical Engineering Dr. Md. Mamunur Rashid; Associate Professor of ETE Department Dr. Md. Saiful Islam; Associate Professor of EEE department Dr. Sampad Ghosh; Associate Professor of PME Department Dr. Mohammad Islam Mia; Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering Department Dr. Sajjad Ahmed, Deputy Director (Information and Publication) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman; Assistant Registrar (Coordination) Muhammad Rashedul Islam and GPH Ispat Assistant Manager (Marketing and Sales) Md. Sohanur Rahman were present among others.
It was informed in the press conference that initially 195 posters and projects were submitted to participate in the fair. 191 (158 posters and 33 projects) were initially selected through review of abstracts by an experienced review panel. Later, a total of 124 (91 posters and 33 projects) were finally selected through the review of the expert research panel. Which will be held on August 9, 2023. Researchers of different levels will get an opportunity to present at the research fair. For the first, second and third place holders in the poster exhibition, Tk.10,000, Tk. 7,000 and Tk. 5,000 respectively will be awarded. On the other hand, in the project exhibition, Taka fifteen thousand, Ten thousand and seven thousand respectively will be awarded. Besides, teachers and students of 15 colleges of Chattogram are getting the opportunity to participate in the fair for the first time. So that college students can get a proper idea about university level research. There is no registration fee to participate in the fair. Apart from this, all the teams along with the participants will be honored with crests and certificates.
