The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak believes that Blockchain technology can be a sustainable solution for the country to solve many social and legal problems to get rid of fake certificates. He said that with the introduction of digital certificates of marriage and divorce after registration of birth and death, the ICT Division will use Blockchain technology in this regard. Going one step further, the ICT State Minister emphasized the use of this technology in the field of digital currency and voting in elections.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak conveyed this information while speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony among the winners of the 4th Blockchain Olympiad competition held at The Krishibid Institution Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.
Responding to the call of Bangladesh Coordinator of Blockchain Olympiad, Habibullah N Karim, the State Minister promised to include Blockchain technology training program under the ministry’s EDGE project.
Urging entrepreneurs to come forward with Blockchain, Palak said, we can use this technology to prevent fake certificates, land registration, marriage and divorce certificates. Similarly, this technology will revolutionize the world’s digital money transactions. But fear and doubt arise from the unknown in these matters. So we have to give importance to gaining awareness and capability. Maybe in the future the election process will also be done using Blockchain technology.
The ICT Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Mr. Ranajit Kumar and South Asia International Finance Corporation Senior Investment Officer Mr. Ifrad Chowdhury also spoke in the event while the Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh (BCOLBD) convener and BUET professor Dr. Kaykobad presided over the event
