Henceforth among the members of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh- ISPAB, among the state-listed institutions, national and divisional level internet service providers will be considered as ordinary members and district and Upazila level service providers as associate members.
The change in the Code of Conduct was made in the organizational process after the regulatory body BTRC updated its license policy.
The bill was passed by voice vote of more than 90 percent of the members present at the Special General Meeting (EGM) held at RAWA Convention Center in the capital on Monday.
The general secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan delivered a welcome speech in the meeting. The President of the organization Emdadul Hoque presided over the meeting. After that, 4 proposals determined by the Technical Committee were presented by the ISPAB President. The proposal to amend the Memorandum of Association was the first of four – amending the Association Memorandum and Association Rules to include all licensed ISPs at nationwide, divisional, district and Upazila levels as general members. There will be no associate membership.
The second proposal stated that by changing the Memorandum and Articles of Association, ordinary membership and associate membership will depend on the willingness of members to pay annual subscriptions.
The third amendment was to amend the Memorandum and Articles of Association to include Nationwide, Divisional and District license holders as ordinary members and Upazila license holders as associate members.
And the last proposal was to include Nationwide and Divisional licensees as ordinary members and district and Upazila licensees as associate members as per the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
