2.4 million SIMs left Dhaka even on Eid day
During the Eid holiday, including the previous two days (Tuesday and Wednesday), a total of 74 lakh 45 thousand 523 people left Dhaka in three days. Among them, 2 lakh 67 thousand 36 SIM users entered Dhaka in three days.
The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said on his verified Facebook page at 4:50 pm on Friday (June 30) that 23 lakh 98 thousand 500 SIM users left the capital even on the day of Eid. And 5 lakh 56 thousand 281 SIM users entered Dhaka. Among the people living in Dhaka, the highest number of Grameen phone SIM holders is 16 lakh 72 thousand 189, Robi 2 lakh 3 thousand 616, Banglalink 11 lakh 4 thousand 870 and Teletalk 47 thousand 338.
Earlier he informed that a total of 550,000 mobile SIM users left Dhaka in the last two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) during the Eid holiday. On June 28 (Wednesday) 31 lakh 41 thousand SIM users left Dhaka. On the previous day, June 27 (Tuesday), 19 lakh five thousand SIM users left Dhaka.
On June 28, 17 lakh 62 thousand 607 users of Grameenphone left Dhaka on the eve of the Eid-ul-adha. Apart from this, 4 lakh 55 thousand 478 SIMs of Robi, 3 lakh 55 thousand 439 of Banglalink and 91 thousand 117 SIMs of Teletalk went outside Dhaka.
The previous day on June 27, 9 lakh 5 thousand 593 SIM users left the capital. Among them Robi has the most 9 lakh 55 thousand 756 users. Apart from this, 2 lakh 30 thousand 886 of Grameenphone, 6 lakh 10 thousand 641 of Banglalink and 1 lakh 8 thousand 310 of Teletalk left Dhaka.
The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications also said that this number is not the number of real people as one person uses multiple SIMs. Besides, many people including children have left Dhaka who do not use any mobile SIM. SIMs are not registered in their name.
