Technology makes people smarter but technology is not the only medium to become smarter. Apart from being proficient in technology, one has to acquire moral qualities. People can claim themselves as smart citizens only if they are humane, efficient and technology friendly. Technology exhibition is one of the helpers in building Smart Bangladesh. I believe Smart Bangladesh Tech Expo 2023 will play a role in making the students and youth technology lovers of Chattogram.
Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury (Nowfel) expressed his views while inaugurating the ‘Smart Bangladesh Tech Expo 2023 Chattogram’ organized by Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) Chattogram branch at Chattogram GEC Convention Center on Wednesday, June 14.
He also said that nothing can contribute to the formation of society if human qualities are not acquired. Honorable Prime Minister has announced the development of Smart Bangladesh. People need to develop affinity with latest technology and updated devices. A job that used to be done by 10 people will be done by one person in the future using artificial intelligence and robotics. Therefore, the work area of skilled people will not be narrow. The world is for worthy people. Technology will be used according to human needs. I believe that our youth can equip themselves with the qualities to lead the world by engaging with technology.
Nowfel said, we have seen the image of good governance, transparency, accountability, effective democracy, empowerment of people and success in digital Bangladesh by using information technology. Learn the proper use of technology. Do not participate in any propaganda. Acquiring skills, focusing on new technologies, trying to overcome limitations and enrich yourself is the motto of making yourself smart. Through this expo, along with buying technology products, innovation zone has been given importance. Dedication to discovery increases people’s interest in work. Therefore, students and youth will participate more and more in the expo with the interest that they can gain an idea about the techniques of making these products by looking at the technological products.
Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was present at the expo as a Special Guest. He said that by 2026 there will be radical changes in the country’s economy. Rather than doing a job, becoming an entrepreneur should set one’s life goals. And this skill will come when students and youth society become technology friendly. Our education policy has increased putting emphasis on technology. Foreign exchange earnings in the ICT sector are also constantly increasing. Freelancers can do outsourcing from home. After Digital Bangladesh, we can undoubtedly enjoy the benefits of Smart Bangladesh.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by BCS President Eng. Subrata Sarkar. He said, if the pillars of Smart Bangladesh are built with emphasis on 4IR, it will be easy to solve future problems. BCS is committed to introducing the people of the country to the latest technology. We have been conducting our activities with 10 branches and more than 3500 members. We believe that Bangladesh will be one of the role models of smart countries for the whole world.
While delivering the welcome speech at the inaugural event, BCS Vice-president and Central Coordinator of the exhibition Md. Rashed Ali Bhuia said that the name of the organization that is at the top of the country’s information technology is Bangladesh Computer Samity or BCS. The success of this organization after 3 years of establishment is also enviable. Today’s Digital Bangladesh is the successful destination of the movement that BCS started to bring the technology sector to the highway of progress by bringing the purchase price of computers within reach. Digital Bangladesh pronounced by BCS is now our trademark. Hon’ble Prime Minister is always sincere to advance the technology sector. In continuation of this, Digital Bangladesh now dreams of implementing Smart Bangladesh. We believe along with leader Sheikh Hasina that we will transform into Smart Bangladesh before the implementation of ‘Vision 2041’.
In his welcome speech, the Chairman of BCS Chattogram branch and Convener of the exhibition Md. Didarul Islam Chowdhury said that there is no alternative to smart people or citizens to create a smart society. Basically all arrangements are made to make the people of Bangladesh smart. Even 20 years ago we would not have thought of watching programs live on social media. Today we all have smartphones and smart devices in our hands. Through these devices we are connected to the whole world. The world today has become a globalized village. And the single achievement of this success is digital device information technology products.
