Half a million internet users of Bashundhara Residential Area, a have suffered due to temporary broadband internet disconnection. Members of ISPAB, an organization of internet service providers, disconnected about 20,000 connections in the area with an advance announcement from 12 noon on Sunday.
Due to disagreement with service providers over ‘regional service subscription’, 54 pop-ups of Bashundhara Residential Area are not being provided internet service at corporate and consumer level. Corporate offices, banks and insurance companies, Internet based service providers, freelancers and students have suffered the most due to the disconnection for three hours. Online activity had been stopped.
It has been seen on the ground that transactions stopped in most of the bank booths. Booths were showing ‘No-Service’. However, Dutch Bangla and Trust Bank booths were running on mobile internet. And The Evercare Hospital located in the residential area went normal as it was kept out of the movement.
In this regard, ISPAB has said that even after giving VAT-tax and license to the government, one country cannot implement one rate if additional contributions are given; As a result, this tough decision has to be taken.
