Realizing the heat of the competition, Open AI applied to the US Patent and Trademark Office to expedite the process of trademarking “GPT”. But the USPTO rejected that application last week.
In such a situation, rival country Russia has released ‘GigaChat’ AI as a rival to ChatGPT.
An official from the country’s state-owned financial institution Sberbank told China’s Gazette Review Online Giz China on Monday that GigaChat is currently in the experimental stage and currently only being used in invite only mode.
He also said that GigaChat is unique from other global neural networks to communicate more intelligently in Russian.
“As Western countries reduce their exports to Russia by imposing strict sanctions on Moscow’s activities in Ukraine, Russia’s leading banks have invested heavily in technology in an effort to reduce the country’s dependence on imports. And the investment in GigaChat technology is a reflection of that,” he added.
