Fair Group hired 30 third gender workers in its organization to help integrate the transgender community into society. Welcoming such an initiative, The National Board of Revenue Chairman Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Munim urged other companies as well to come forward.
Appreciating the steps taken by Fair Group in this regard, he said, Fair Group has set an extraordinary example in corporate initiatives by employing many trans-genders.
He expressed his feelings while addressing a CSR meeting titled “Social Inclusion of Transgender Community” in Tejgaon on Saturday (April 15) morning chaired by the Fair Group Chairman Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub.
Additional Inspector General of Police and Head of Tourist Police Habibur Rahman, who works on the quality of life of neglected Bede Palli and Hijra communities, was present as a special guest on the occasion. At this time, he highly appreciated this initiative of Fair Group and expressed hope that this trend will continue in the days to come.
Eminent cultural personalities Shamim Ara Nipa, Sadia Islam Mou and Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, Professor of Dhaka University Dr. Touhida Jahan, Director of Bandhu Welfare Society Saleh Ahmed, Founder of Transend Lamia Tanha spoke on the occasion.
Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub, chairman of Fair Group, appealing to all entrepreneurs in the private sector, said, “We, Fair Group is committed to hiring transgender workers. More than 30 transgender workers are working as regular workers in our group. I have taken steps to increase this number. All of them are not only getting regular salary but also giving them special grant every month personally. All this is done with the aim of ensuring their social inclusion and leading a humane life.”
At the end of the event, the invited guests handed over Eid gifts to the trans-genders on behalf of Fair Group.
