Apple’s MacBook computers will now be made in Thailand as part of plans to expand production outside of China. The multinational technology company Apple is discussing this matter with various suppliers in Thailand. The negotiations are dominated by suppliers who are also producing products for other clients in the country.
Japan’s Nikkei Asia has given this news about three suppliers who have participated in negotiations with Apple.
According to the report of news agency Reuters, the ‘Apple Watch’ has been manufactured in the country for more than a year. Apple and its key suppliers have been gradually moving production out of China after disruptions last year at Foxconn’s biggest iPhone factory.
Meanwhile, iPhone maker Foxconn is building a new factory on 300 acres of land in Bengaluru, India. The venue has already been selected. Once the factory is ready, at least 1 lakh new jobs will be created in Karnataka.
As reported by CNBC, iPhone supply shortages occurred after Chinese factory workers went on strikes and protests. Since then there were rumors of a new iPhone factory in India. Apple is also rumored to be considering making iPads and MacBooks in India. Rumors proved somewhat true last Friday (March 3) when a 17-member delegation from the company, led by Foxconn chairman Yong Liu, arrived in Bengaluru to inspect the site for the new factory.
The initial budget for the construction of this proposed factory has been estimated at 700 million dollars. Foxconn is the Asian agent of the multinational technology company Apple’s most popular product, the iPhone. This company based in Taiwan manufactures most of the iPhones. This is Foxconn’s second investment in India.
Recently, Apple has launched its first sales center in India. According to a Bloomberg report on Thursday, Apple has tripled iPhone production in India. Smartphones worth US$ 7 billion were produced in India in the last financial year. And about 7 percent of the total manufactured iPhones are manufactured in India.
On April 5, this multinational technology company opened its store in the city of Mumbai. It will be launched this month itself. According to a report by The Verge, Apple said the store will cover 22,000 square feet of area. Recruitment for various positions of the sales center has started since last January. It was planned to open in 2021 but was not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Customers can buy various products including the latest iPhone 14 model, MacBook, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch, Apple TV and HomePod from the Apple Store at Bandra Kurla Complex. Apart from this, various Apple services will also be available.
