Foldable smartphones with flexible displays are currently taking the upcoming trend in mobile phone market. However, several leading smartphone manufacturers are also experimenting with new form factors. One of them is a device with a rollable screen. And now it is known that the popular Chinese technology company Vivo and Transon are going to commercially unveil the world’s first rollable screen smartphone.
Market analyst sources claim that the much-awaited phone could debut by the end of next year. Let’s find out what information has come up regarding this device so far.
A rollable smartphone is a device that can expand the size of the screen with a simple touch. This means users can shrink the display size for portability and handheld convenience, while enjoying a larger display when needed. It gives a glimpse of the future of smartphone, where devices can adapt to the needs of the user.
Transon is quite ambitious about their future plans in the rollable phone segment. Various manufacturers have previously showcased numerous rollable concept phones and displays. As recently as last September, the concept of a rollable screen phone called the Tecno Phantom Ultimate was brought to the public. This concept phone has a screen that can easily expand from 6.55 inches to 7.11 inches in just 1.3 seconds.
But size isn’t the only highlight, this display offers a stunning resolution of 2,296×1,596 pixels, 388 ppi pixel density and full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. Another interesting feature is the mini rear display, which is designed for notifications.
It is rumored that Vivo is enlisting the help of well-known display manufacturers like China’s BOE or South Korea’s Samsung Display. Industry experts have indicated that BoE could be a more enthusiastic participant in this initiative.
