Professor Asif Nazrul, Legal and Judicial Adviser, has described the recent rumors circulating on social media as “insane ramblings” and urged the public not to pay attention to them. He made this appeal through a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday (January 24).
In his post, Professor Asif Nazrul wrote, “Insane ramblings are being spread as rumors. Do not pay attention to them. We are all fine. We are all in our respective places. Alhamdulillah.”
Since late Thursday night (January 23), various rumors about the interim government, its advisers, and the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have been circulating on social media platforms like Facebook.
Claims such as “The advisers of the interim government have fled,” “The Chief Adviser has submitted his resignation,” “The military is forming a government,” and “The coordinators have fled” were among the baseless and false information being spread.
Observers note that many of these rumors were disseminated through social media pages purportedly linked to the Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), and Jubo League. Additionally, some current and former leaders of these organizations were reportedly seen sharing these false claims.
