The Bangladesh team achieved remarkable success at the 26th International Robot Olympiad, securing a total of 10 medals, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 4 bronze. The global robotics event saw participation from 26 countries and was held at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) in Busan, South Korea, from January 17 to 20. The awards ceremony took place on January 21.
The Bangladesh Robot Olympiad team participated under the sponsorship of the ICT Division and with support from the Department of Information and Communication Technology. The 10-member team represented Bangladesh in various categories of the competition.
The gold medalists included Arietti Islam from the “Anari” team in the Creative Category (Junior Group) and Namia Rojat Nubala from the “Seriously Clueless” team in the Creative Movie Category (Senior Group).
In addition, silver medals were won by Arietti Islam in the Physical Computing Junior Group, Nusaiyba Tajrin Tanisha from the “Zeroth” team, Priyonti Das from the “Team Shifu,” and Saf.AI team members from Dhaka Residential Model College—Haseen Ishraq Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir—in the Creative Category (Senior Group).
The bronze medalists included Nafiya Basar Suhani from “The Screw Loose” team in the Physical Computing Junior Group, Nusaiyba Tajrin Tanisha from the “Zeroth” team, and Namia Rojat Nubala from the “Seriously Clueless” team in the Senior Group, along with Saf.AI team members Haseen Ishraq Chowdhury Taha, AZM Imtenan Kabir, and Abrar Abir in the Creative Movie Senior Group.
The 7th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad, organized by Bangladesh Open Source Network in September and October 2024, selected winners for the international competition. A two-day selection camp evaluated participants’ qualifications and performance, followed by two months of 21 high-performance camps to prepare the national team.
ICT Advisor Md. Nahid Islam, ICT Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, and ICT Department Director General Mohammad Anwar Uddin congratulated the Bangladesh team on their proud achievements. They also expressed interest in sending more participants to future Olympiads.
