Quoting Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s public meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan on August 19, 1972 about the future of young people, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “The father of the nation said – work hard, otherwise you will not be able to live.” , there is no benefit in passing only BA, MA. I want agricultural colleges, agricultural schools, engineering colleges and schools to produce real people. If you get basic education, you can live by working.’
He also said, “The world is moving forward. New developments in technology and new discoveries of science are coming out. We have to keep pace with him. And that work will be done by none but our youth society, students, youth”.
The Prime Minister said this while joining the National Youth Day 2022 function at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday morning virtually from the Ganobhaban. Meanwhile, the head of government urged the youth not to run after jobs, but to become entrepreneurs themselves. He also said that the process of creating a database of how many trained youths there are in the country is going on.
He said, we are making youth training and recreation centers in every upazila. To create employment for the youth, we have taken a vehicle driving project. In addition to creating youth employment, 40 thousand skilled drivers will be created in the country. Nationwide impact projects have been undertaken for youth employment. Under this project, 64 thousand youth and young women in 64 districts will be provided assistance in setting up eco-friendly biogas plants along with providing farm-based training and post-training loans.
Sheikh Hasina said, “We are building 100 economic zones in the whole of Bangladesh for employment of our youth. If proper training can be ensured, this economic zone, the investment that will be made here, the investment is happening, the more investment will be made, the employment will be provided to the boys and girls of our country.”
The program was presided over by the Minister of State for Youth and Sports Md. Zahid Hasan Russell. Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry Chairman Abdullah Al Islam Jacob, Youth and Sports Secretary Mejbah Uddin, Director General of Youth Development Directorate (Grade-1) Azharul Islam Khan were present at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium stage of the event.
Meanwhile, in recognition of setting a bright example in self-employment, 15 self-employed people and six youth organizers for setting an exemplary example in volunteering, i.e. a total of 21 successful youth, were given the National Youth Award-2022.
