98 percent area of the country has been brought under the coverage of 4G mobile network. Said the Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar. He said that the work of bringing high-speed optical fiber network from village to every house is underway.
The telecom minister informed so, while speaking as the chief guest before cutting the cake at the 10th anniversary of operation of the Malaysian mobile tower company EDOTCO in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications urged the government to take a strong role in the construction of the highway of digital connectivity as well as the private telecom companies including the mobile tower company EDOTCO. In addition, Mustafa Jabbar expressed his gratitude to the organization knowing that 25 percent of the Bangladeshi workers employed in EDOTCO are given the opportunity to work abroad.
Referring to infrastructure and spectrum allocation for commercial roll out of 5G, he said, “We are working to complete preparations for commercial expansion of 5G technology. After the launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 into space, the work of launching Bangabandhu Satellite-2 has started. The first of these will be communications and the second will be Earth Observatory. We are also working on the launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-3 as a data based satellite.
Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Hajna Md Hashem, EDOTCO Bangladesh Chairman Adlan Tajuddin and EDOTCO Bangladesh Country Managing Director Sunil Isaac were present on the occasion.
