New information about the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera setup has surfaced, thanks to a leak by China’s Digital Chat Station. According to the report, published by GSMArena, these models will feature an upgraded 24-megapixel selfie camera, a significant improvement from their predecessors.
The rear camera system will include three cameras:
- A 48-megapixel primary camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor,
- A 48-megapixel ultrawide camera,
- A 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
While the main camera sensor will be slightly smaller compared to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, the periscope telephoto camera will deliver higher resolution.
Although the improvements in the camera setup may not seem groundbreaking compared to previous models, Apple is expected to highlight even minor changes during its September launch event to captivate its audience.
Additionally, Digital Chat Station mentioned that prototype models feature a horizontal camera island on the back, aligning with earlier rumors. However, another Weibo user noted that the final design may take until March to be finalized.
