The University of Lisbon’s IST School of Technology has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest computer programming lesson, with nearly 1,700 students participating. The event featured participants aged between 12 and 67 at the same venue.
According to Reuters, the previous record was held by a programming lesson in Dallas, Texas, in 2016, which saw the participation of 724 individuals.
Paulina Sapinska, a judge from Guinness World Records, stated that the record was based on the number of participants present, confirming that there were 1,668 attendees at the event.
Organizers indicated that the initiative aimed to showcase Portugal as an emerging hub for information technology and to promote computing among the public.
