Amazon is planning to hire approximately 250,000 workers for the holiday shopping season, primarily for transportation and warehouse roles. The e-commerce giant had also hired the same number of employees last year, according to Reuters.
The report states that Amazon expects holiday sales in the final quarter of this year to surpass all previous records.
Sandy Gordon, Vice President of Global Operations Employee Experience at Amazon, mentioned that while demand and numbers have increased significantly, they believe that 250,000 workers is the right number for their operations.
However, Amazon has not confirmed how many of the 250,000 positions will be temporary.
