Meta shuts down 63,000 Nigerian Instagram accounts for allegedly extorting money from sex scams. Reuters reported this news with reference to the social media giant.
According to reports, those who cheat online in Nigeria are known as ‘Yahoo Boys’. Mainly economically disadvantaged people in the country are involved in this work. They call for investment by promising high profits to the financially well-off people of the country.
Meta said in a statement that 7,200 Facebook pages have also been closed, including 63,000 Instagram accounts. Because fraudsters used to spread various information from these Facebook pages.
These people in Nigeria often target someone and send fake pictures. The men are harassed by ‘sex scammers’ until they got paid.
