Meta will reportedly remove posts that use the word ‘Zionist’ to refer to ‘Jews’ or ‘Israelis’. Additionally, posts that use the term explicitly to discuss Judaism as a political movement will also be removed.
Zionism originated as a political movement to establish a Jewish state in Palestine. However, the term Zionist is now being used as an insult against Jews, Meta said.
Several posts using the word Zionist have already been removed by Meta. Zionists were compared to ‘rats’ in these posts.
But Meta said the company’s policies were not sufficient to accurately identify how the word Zionist was used online and offline.
