OpenAI, maker of artificial intelligence (AI)-based chatbot ChatGPT, has acquired search and database analytics startup Rockset. ChatGPT maker acquired Rockset to provide more advanced infrastructure for enterprise products. News Reuters.
The two organizations did not disclose the amount of the contract. However, related sources said that OpenAI has bought the company in exchange for its own shares. The deal values Rockset at several billion US dollars. This is one of OpenAI’s biggest acquisitions to date.
OpenAI declined to comment on contract details. Earlier this year, investors valued the company at USD 86 billion through a tender.
Former Facebook (Meta) engineers founded Rockset. It creates real-time search and analytics database. The company has achieved success through the use of artificial intelligence in fields ranging from chatbots and detecting abnormal events. Last year, Rockset said Greylock, Sequoia and Hewlett Packard raised a total of $10.5 million in funding from the venture capital division of Enterprise.
The Rockset team will join OpenAI. This technology will strengthen the enterprise product framework of the ChatGPT manufacturer. This means that RockSet’s real-time data processing and vector search expertise will enhance OpenAI’s ability to quickly access and analyze large amounts of data. This results in faster and more accurate feedback from AI models. With this acquisition, OpenAI will further advance enterprises in selling AI tools for rapid indexing and searching of data.
Building on the success of the popular chatbot ChatGPT, OpenAI wants to stay ahead by expanding the range of technology products.
