The Law Minister Anisul Haque said that there will be another stakeholder meeting in the next two weeks regarding the technical notes of the Digital Security Act. He also indicated to take the initiative to add or change the rules of the Digital Security Act if necessary based on the discussion.
On Sunday (April 2), the minister shared his idea in response to a question from journalists at the end of the seminar organized by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). He said that an initiative has been taken to ensure that journalists are not harassed unnecessarily.
On March 14, a discussion was also held with the civil society. The matter was scheduled to be heard again on March 30, but it was postponed. In that discussion, people from civil society also talked about a law on digital security act, data protection law and NGOs. These issues will also be discussed.
In the seminar, a discussion was held on ‘Necessary Reforms in Arbitration Law to Attract Foreign Investment in Bangladesh’. There, the minister also spoke about the misuse of the law and correction of errors.
However, the law minister had to face various questions from the journalists about the Digital Security Act. In response to those questions, he said that it is being discussed and criticized abroad or in the United Nations. Recognizing that there was some abuse of the Digital Security Act, we discussed with the United Nations Commission on Human Rights what changes could be made in this regard. Discussions are still ongoing. A technical note has come from there, we are discussing the matter.
