The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has notified that a total of 18 hours of mobile service could be disrupted for the first time on April 6 and eight hours to ensure service on the new wave.
The BTRC informed this in a press release sent to the media on Monday.
According to the BTRC press release, a total of 26.4 MHz waves including 6.4 MHz in the 1800 MHz band and 20 MHz in the 2100 MHz band were allotted to Grameenphone, Robi and Banglalink through spectrum auction on March 8.
The wave rearrangement has been done in favor of the said institutions to combine the new spectrum allotted in the auction with the previously allotted spectrum. This is why the waves of all mobile operators will change.
The first phase of 1600 MHz band wave conversion activities in the mobile network will be completed on 01-08 April and the second phase 2100 MHz band wave conversion activities will be completed by 07-08 April, 2021. Mobile network communication may be temporarily disrupted at certain times of the day during the wave changes.
Telecommunication services may be disrupted from 11 pm on April 1 to 6 am on April 2 and from 11 pm on April 7 to 8 am on April 7 due to the wave rescheduling activities in the notification.
