The WPC Game has commenced at Athletes Hub in Beribadh’s 100 Feet area, marking the beginning of the first-ever MSI Bangladesh Fizital Football Championship, an innovative tournament blending digital and physical football.
The three-day FIFA Championship features 16 teams competing in four groups. The participating teams include SEU CSE, Mir Uni, XL, TBA, Gal Dian, Spot Def, BRAC, My Neighbors, The Pred, Deadshot FC, Team KK, and FC Ragnarok. Each team consists of three computer gamers, one of whom must also participate in on-field matches, alongside five field players, including a goalkeeper. The unique format requires players to transition from a 10-minute on-field match to an online FIFA tournament in real-time.
The tournament kicked off in the morning with East West University’s CSE 65 facing Mirpur United in the opening match, followed by a showdown between XL and TBA, where XL advanced to the quarterfinals. In another match, Spot Def competed against Gal Dian in a closely contested battle.
Organized by the Bangladesh Youth Development and Electronic Sports Association (BYDESA), the tournament champion will represent Bangladesh at the “Game of the Future” event in Dubai. The winning team will be awarded the championship trophy on Tuesday by former national football team captain Zahid Hasan Emily.
