Mukib Mia, an Education Cadre official from the 31st batch, has gone viral after distributing leaflets in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, advocating for online classes. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Government Jasmuddin Kazi Abdul Gani College in Patgram, Lalmonirhat.
On Saturday, February 1, he shared photos and reports of his leaflet distribution on his Facebook profile, further fueling the controversy. In addition, he shared at least 13 news reports related to the event. Mukib Mia, a former student of the University of Dhaka, was once the Public Education Secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Sohag-Nazmul Committee.

Allegations have surfaced that Mukib Mia has not joined his college or given any classes in the past three months. Principal Md. Habibur Rahman of Government Jasuddin Kazi Abdul Gani College confirmed, “Mukib Mia has not been present at the college for over three months. He applied to join online, which was accepted, but he did not submit the hard copy of his joining letter. Recently, he applied for a three-month medical leave but failed to provide a doctor’s recommendation, prescriptions, or any supporting documents. Since then, he has not maintained any communication.”
Mukib Mia previously worked for ten consecutive years at the Directorate of Inspection and Audit (DIA) under the Ministry of Education during the tenure of the Awami League government. During this period, he was actively involved in Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League programs. Reports also suggest that he allegedly extorted money from teachers by intimidation.
Despite being a government employee bound by Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1979, Section 25(1), he has allegedly been engaging in political activities instead of teaching. Although government employees are prohibited from criticizing the administration on social media, Mukib Mia has been an outspoken critic of Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the interim government led by him. His recent leaflet distribution in front of the National Press Club in support of the Awami League has further drawn attention, as he appears to be actively involved in political movements opposing the anti-government protests.
