A special workshop on documentation and evidence verification was held jointly by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) and the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). The workshop took place on Wednesday at the Ratnogarva Tahmina Rahman Multipurpose Hall of the university. The event was graced by the Chairman of the Accreditation Council, Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Hasan Bhuiyan, the Vice-Chancellor of UITS, attended as a special guest.
Presided over by Professor Dr. S.M. Kabir, the workshop began with a speech from the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed. He emphasized, “We, as educators, aspire to provide quality and advanced education. Through improved education, we can elevate ourselves. We can bring about change in ourselves, in our society, and in our country.” He outlined the goals of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council, which include improving the education system, ensuring quality education, and supporting students to establish themselves and contribute to the nation and society. He thanked everyone involved in organizing the workshop and those who participated in the session.
In his special address, the Vice-Chancellor of UITS, Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Hasan Bhuiyan, stated, “This workshop will help us move forward in gaining excellence in higher education and improving its standards through collective efforts. Accreditation is the key to excellence and continuous improvement in the education system. It evaluates the quality of university teaching, learning, research, innovation, student support, and administrative efficiency.” He expressed confidence that the workshop would assist in successfully completing the accreditation process.
The keynote speech was presented by Professor Dr. S.M. Kabir, after which questions were taken from the attending teachers and answered accordingly.
The welcome address was delivered by the Director of IQAC, Engineer Mohammad Safayet Hossain. The event was also attended by the university’s Treasurer, Professor Dr. Siraj Uddin Ahmed; Controller of Examinations, Professor A.N.M. Sharif; Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashraful Islam; Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Syeda Afsana Ferdousi; Dean of the Business Faculty, Dr. Faruk Hossain; Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Mohammad Nahidul Islam; Department Heads from various faculties; and other faculty members. The closing remarks were made by the Director of Accreditation at BAC, Professor Nasir Uddin Ahmed, and the event was moderated by Dr. Rita Parveen, Deputy Director of Accreditation at BAC.
