The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is undertaking comprehensive measures to ensure maximum safety in the country’s airspace. Initiatives include bird strike control around airports, specialized training for boarding bridge operators, and security-focused programs at the Civil Aviation Academy. Additionally, various infrastructural upgrades are being implemented across airports to strengthen safety protocols.
As part of these efforts, CAAB aims to achieve zero fatalities in commercial aviation by 2030, aligning with the ICAO Global Aspirational Safety Goal. Expressing strong optimism, CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M. Mafidur Rahman emphasized this target during a discussion session held on Wednesday, January 8, to review recent aviation incidents and enhance operational safety.
At the seminar, titled “Roles and Responsibilities of CAAB and Stakeholders in Ensuring Aviation Safety,” the chairman highlighted key safety measures undertaken by the authority. Senior officials from CAAB and other aviation stakeholders attended the session, where detailed presentations were delivered on ensuring aviation safety.
The CAAB Chairman remarked, “By working together on a long-term safety plan, we can ensure an accident-free environment in aviation.” He extended his gratitude to all participants and emphasized, “Teamwork is essential for all aviation stakeholders. Ensuring safety is a shared responsibility that demands mutual collaboration.”
He further underscored that joint efforts between CAAB and aviation stakeholders continue to establish a secure aviation environment. The chairman urged all stakeholders to work cooperatively to identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
The seminar showcased presentations by experts on various aspects of aviation safety, reinforcing the commitment to a safer future in the industry.
