Prosecutor B.M. Sultan Mahmud of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has reported receiving death threats via the digital communication app Imo. He has suggested that others might be behind the individual making the threats.
Last Thursday, Sultan Mahmud filed a general diary (GD) with the New Market Police Station in Dhaka regarding the incident.
According to the GD, on December 18, several calls were made to the Imo account of Sultan Mahmud’s wife from an unknown number. During these calls, the prosecutor was threatened with death and subjected to intimidation. The perpetrator specifically mentioned plans to kill him at the High Court. The threat-maker claimed that Sultan Mahmud had delayed securing bail for him in a legal case.
Based on the conversation, Sultan Mahmud stated in the GD that he recognized the individual behind the threats. He also named the accused in the report, identifying him as a notorious robber with multiple robbery cases filed against him in Narail, Jashore, and Dhaka.
