Bangladeshi IT company Orange Business Development Limited (OrangeBD) is now working on digitalizing the Philippines’ governance systems. On January 23, the Philippines’ local government minister and the UNDP’s Philippines head will officially inaugurate the project.
According to reports, OrangeBD is providing technological support for various e-governance projects of the Philippine government. So far, 14 citizen and business-related services have been digitized in 20 municipalities across one province, out of a total of 123 municipalities in the country. Gradually, all municipalities will become operational, and all citizen and business-related services will undergo a digital transformation.
The information was shared at a media gathering held at the Dhanmondi Club in the capital, where the company’s Director and CEO, Al-Ashraful Kabir Jewel, addressed the press. Also present at the event were OrangeBD’s directors Mohammad Hafeez Ahmed, Mohammad Shamim Hossain, and Public Relations Officer Shahriar Shams.
The event also highlighted that OrangeBD is working on developing the Program and Project Monitoring System for the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), an institution under the Philippines’ president. This system will assist the Philippine government in data-driven decision-making by monitoring and analyzing information on projects funded by the government and donor agencies.
Al-Ashraful Kabir Jewel, the Director and CEO of Orange Business Development Limited, commented, “The implementation of e-governance projects abroad using Bangladeshi software will significantly enhance the country’s reputation. It is also contributing to remittance inflows. I am grateful to all concerned for the steps taken by the current government to open up markets for domestic companies abroad.”
Orange Business Development Limited has been operating in both domestic and international markets since 2005 as an IT company. In addition to digitalizing various government services in Bangladesh, the company also provides technical support for the online versions of the country’s leading media outlets.
