A seminar on “Computational Fluid Dynamics: Advancement in Biomechanical, Energy, and Thermal Engineering” was held at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). The event took place on Tuesday afternoon in the university’s virtual classroom and was jointly organized by the university’s Research Cell and the Department of Mathematics. The Vice-Chancellor of JUST, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, attended as the chief guest.
In his address, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid encouraged students, stating, “Seminars like this expand students’ knowledge. You must strive to acquire knowledge and develop yourselves as skilled citizens of the country. There is a shortage of skilled manpower in the country, which compels us to hire professionals from abroad at high salaries. If you equip yourselves as skilled individuals, the country’s resources will not flow out. To achieve this, you must focus on acquiring practical knowledge.”
Addressing the students of the Mathematics Department, he emphasized, “The application of mathematics is universal. Science cannot be imagined without mathematics. Hence, you must devote more attention to the subject. To become a good researcher, there is no alternative to learning mathematics.” He expressed his belief that such seminars would significantly enhance students’ understanding.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Saidul Islam, Senior Lecturer at the School of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, presented research findings on the role of computational fluid dynamics in advancements in biomechanical, energy, and thermal engineering. He also discussed the vast applications of mathematics and opportunities for higher education abroad.
The seminar was presided over by the Chairman of the Mathematics Department, Professor Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin, with additional remarks delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Md. Korban Ali, and the Director of the Research Cell, Professor Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir. Other notable attendees included Mathematics Department faculty members Dr. Md. Zahurul Islam, Dr. Mohammad Saiful Islam, Dr. Md. Farhad Bulbul, Md. Akram Hossain, Md. Asif Arefin, and Fee Faisal Ahmed. The seminar was coordinated by students Md. Khalid Bin Kaiser and Sumi Bairagi.
