The biennial executive committee election of the Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum (BIJF) will be held on December 20, with 18 candidates vying for 8 positions. A total of 67 registered voters will participate in the election. On Saturday, the Election Commission introduced the candidates at a meeting held in the Vision 2021 conference room in Kawran Bazar. In the absence of the Chief Election Commissioner, Pallab Mohaiemen, Technology News Coordinator at Prothom Alo, presided over the session, assisted by another commissioner, Suman Islam, News Editor at Daily Sarabangla. Of the 18 candidates, 17 were present at the session.
During the event, candidates introduced themselves and presented their promises to the voters. They expressed their commitment to elevating BIJF, a professional organization representing Bangladesh’s science, ICT, and telecom journalists, to greater heights. Each candidate emphasized transparency, accountability, and innovative, member-friendly plans to advance the organization.

This year’s candidates include Hitler A Halim, Editor of Infotech Insight, and Hasan Zakir, Assistant Editor of Daily Samakal, contesting for the position of President. For Vice President, Bhuiya Inam Lenin, Editor of Monthly Computer Bichitra, and Nazmul Haque Shyamal, Editor of Daily Natun Shomoy, are running. For General Secretary, Sabbir Hasan, Head of Online at Daily Samakal, and Mizanur Rahman Sohel, Online Chief of Daily Bhorer Kagoj, are the contenders.
Enamul Haque, Staff Reporter at Channel 24, Hamidur Rahman, Staff Reporter at Daily Share Biz, and Solaiman Hossain Shawon, Senior Staff Reporter at Rupali Bangladesh, are contesting for Joint General Secretary. Notably, there is no competition for the position of Treasurer, with Md. Saiful Islam, Special Correspondent at Biztech24.com, running unopposed.
For Organizational Secretary, Khandakar Hasan Shahriar, Editor of Weekly Knowledge Today, and Touhidul Islam Tushar, IT Head of Independent TV’s online division, are candidates. For Publication and Research Secretary, SM Imdadul Haque, Executive Editor of DigiBanglaTech.news, Mahbubur Rahman of TechNews, and Anjan Chandra Deb, Staff Reporter of The Daily Messenger, are competing. Finally, for two Executive Member positions, Najnin Nahar, Editor of Monthly TechWorld, Enamul Kabir, Managing Editor of Daily Digital Shomoy, and Md. Mozahhedul Islam Dheu, Senior Staff Reporter of The Daily Asian Age, are in the race.
During the session, candidates outlined their qualifications and future plans. The Election Commissioners encouraged all candidates to conduct their campaigns in a respectful and amicable manner, adhering to the election code of conduct.
