Five teenage boys were injured in Feni after being stabbed in an altercation triggered by a Facebook “Haha” reaction. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM on Friday in the West Sonapur area of Feni Sadar Upazila. Locals detained the assailant, Azahar Hossain Niloy (17), and handed him over to law enforcement.
The injured—Amit Hasan Bhuiyan (18), Jisan (17), Shariful Islam (17), Tanbir (18), and Rijan (16)—are all secondary school students and residents of West Sonapur.
According to witnesses, the altercation stemmed from a past conflict involving one of the injured boys and the assailant during a previous government regime. This conflict resurfaced when Niloy reacted with a “Haha” emoji on a Facebook post. When confronted about it, the dispute escalated, leading to the stabbing.
Local resident Saifuddin Likhon stated that the community members intervened to rescue the injured and apprehend Niloy. He urged authorities to ensure justice to prevent such incidents in the future.
Feni Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mormo Singh Tripura confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is underway.
