National Bank Limited (NBL) has been honored as the “Top Remittance Bank Recipient 2024” for its exceptional role in facilitating remittances from the United States to Bangladesh. The accolade was presented at the “Bangladesh Remittance Fair 2024,” held in the United States. On Monday, November 25, 2024, the award was handed over to NBL Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo at the bank’s head office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, by Raihanul Islam Chowdhury, Senior Vice President of the Bangladesh-U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUSCCI).
NBL’s Managing Director and CEO Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Deputy Managing Directors Sheikh Akhtar Uddin Ahmed, Imran Ahmed, and Md. Abdul Matin, Head of Foreign Remittance Milton Roy, and BUSCCI’s Bangladesh Representative Madhusudan Saha were present at the occasion.
Expressing gratitude, Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo dedicated the award to expatriate remittance contributors, acknowledging their vital role in the country’s economy. He highlighted NBL’s pioneering efforts in remittance facilitation, beginning in 1994 through a partnership with Western Union. “This achievement underscores how strategic investments in leadership, technology, and human resources can drive transformative success. National Bank remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence and progress amid the growing demand for remittance services,” he stated.
NBL’s Managing Director and CEO Md. Touhidul Alam Khan emphasized the bank’s extensive global network, including partnerships in Singapore, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, and Greece, to facilitate remittance collection. He noted, “Our future vision is to further expand remittance inflows. Despite the ongoing dollar crisis impacting raw material and fuel imports, NBL is actively working to boost remittances and exports to ensure the steady supply of essential goods.”
He further added, “At National Bank, our mission is clear: prioritize customer satisfaction, technological innovation, and a dedicated workforce to lead in remittance services. We are not merely transferring money; we are bridging dreams and aspirations.”
