The government of Bangladesh has launched an ambitious initiative to provide freelancing training to educated unemployed youth, aiming to boost foreign currency earnings. Under this project, 28,800 individuals across 48 districts will be trained, with a total budget allocation of BDT 2.97 billion (297 crore 16 lakh 23 thousand 600).
The initiative was approved during a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Government Procurement held on Thursday, November 21, at the Secretariat, chaired by Science, Technology, and Economic Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed. The training firm, e-Learning and Earning Limited, has been appointed to execute the program.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project earlier in February 2024. Titled “Employment Creation through Freelancing Training for Educated Job-Seeking Youth in 48 Districts,” the project is being implemented by the Department of Youth Development under the Ministry of Youth and Sports and is expected to conclude by December 2026.
