The e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) marked its 10th anniversary with a grand celebration at Dhaka’s Dhanmondi, where over 600 members participated in a lively event filled with Qawwali and music, as well as casual conversations over coffee. The gathering provided an opportunity for networking, with many attendees engaged in exchanging pleasantries and discussing the need for swift elections.
At around 9:30 PM, the event featured a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the milestone, attended by Shish Haydar, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. However, the absence of key founding members was notably observed.
In his speech, the chief guest, ICT Secretary Shish Haydar Chowdhury, assured full support for startups, stating that the new Bangladesh would advance with collaboration between academia, the government, business leaders, and young entrepreneurs.

Earlier, in the evening, Tanvir Ibrahim, President of BACCO, and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Managing Director of SME Foundation, delivered speeches at the event.
In his address, e-CAB Administrator Muhammad Saeed Ali assured attendees that efforts were underway to ensure a fair and transparent election process. He mentioned that work was ongoing to create an accurate voter list, with steps being taken to exclude members with document-related issues from the voting process. A team would soon be formed to finalize the list, after which an election commission would be constituted with the involvement of government representatives.
The e-CAB Administrator also called for written complaints regarding illegal members to be submitted.
Founded in 2014 with just 53 founding members, e-CAB has grown to approximately 2,800 members as of its 10th anniversary on November 8.
