Cybersecurity is not solely the responsibility of IT specialists; it requires collective efforts from everyone to stay secure in cyberspace. Through this unified approach, the Bangladesh Air Force will lead and set an example in implementing the best cybersecurity practices.
These remarks were made by Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, Chief of the Air Force, during the inauguration of the ‘Air Force Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024’ on Tuesday, October 1, at the Air Force Headquarters Auditorium. This marks the first observance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month within the Bangladesh Air Force, coinciding with the international observance of Cyber Month.
In his keynote address, Air Chief Marshal Khan emphasized that effective cybersecurity measures can help mitigate risks and protect against potential damage. He further stated, “Cybersecurity is not just the responsibility of our IT specialists; everyone must work together to ensure their safety in cyberspace. With this collective effort, the Bangladesh Air Force will be at the forefront of cybersecurity practices and serve as a model for others.”
He also noted that cybersecurity is no longer just a technological issue but has become an essential and integral part of daily life. The protection of sensitive information, he said, is one of the most critical benefits of a strong cybersecurity system. With the increasing number of cyber threats and attacks, it has become imperative for organizations and individuals to strengthen their security systems to safeguard sensitive information.
The event was organized by the Directorate of Cyber Warfare and Information Technology, with the director serving as the chief organizer. The Air Chief praised the efforts of the Cyber Warfare and Information Technology Directorate in launching this initiative and encouraged all members to remain vigilant and aware.
Officers, airmen, and other personnel from the Air Force bases and units in Dhaka attended the event, while representatives from bases outside Dhaka participated via video teleconference.
