A technical glitch in the server of Bangladesh Bank, used for interbank transactions, disrupted the clearing of checks submitted on Monday. As a result, the checks that were deposited on Monday could not be processed on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director and spokesperson, Hosne Ara Shikha, confirmed the issue to BanglaNews on Tuesday, October 1.
She stated, “Due to a technical issue with the Bangladesh Bank server on Monday, the check clearing process was disrupted. Consequently, the checks received yesterday could not be cleared. The bank’s technical team is working to resolve the issue, and we expect it to be fixed within today’s working hours.”
An official from the central bank’s General Division added that the server malfunction was detected around 9 p.m. on Monday. Efforts were made to resolve the issue overnight, but by 2 a.m., the problem remained unresolved, leading to the cancellation of the settlement of all checks processed on Monday.
As of the time of this report, the server issue has yet to be resolved.
